Admissions
BISD operates a year-round admissions policy, and families are welcome to apply at any time without a deadline.
Admission to the British International School Dakar (BISD) is highly competitive. To ensure exceptional education and fostering meaningful relationships, we maintain small class sizes: a maximum of eight (8) students in our Nursery and Reception classes, and twelve (12) students in Years 1 to 6.
We currently cater to nursery, reception, and primary levels. We are actively developing our secondary section and will announce its launch in the near future.
Our dedicated Admissions Office is here to guide you through every step of the process. We strongly encourage families to register early to secure their place and benefit from our personalised approach to learning.
BISD is open to all students regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, nationality, gender, disability, or religion/belief, provided their learning needs can be effectively met. All students applying for admission will be treated equally and fairly. At BISD, all students are expected and required to attend all lessons without exception.
Our inclusive admissions policy does not require students to sit entrance tests or examinations for entry into the Junior School. We welcome students of all nationalities and those for whom English is an additional language.
Students aged 3 to 11 are admitted and placed in a class according to their age as measured on 1st September of the academic year. While exceptions may occasionally apply, students will not be placed in a year group beyond their chronological age. New admissions are
accepted throughout the year based on these criteria.

BISD has limited resources for students with physical disabilities and by policy, can only assist students with mild disabilities. To learn whether your child can be accommodated – and if space is available – please submit an early application along with a recent psycho-
education evaluation and other documents related to the student’s special needs and services.
If your child has any special medical, support or testing needs, it is important that you share this information on the application.
